This Weekend @ Connexus | Sunday April 18, 2010

Thanks for the interaction this week on the blog about how you used your influence and power at work this week to benefit others. Turning my office into a coffee bar was a great application of the message! Orillia…can't wait for you to chime in starting Sunday.

Some big stuff this weekend.

1. Pray for our group leaders, who are gathering for a one day retreat in Barrie on Saturday. The people who lead our community groups help lead hundreds of people at Connexus into a growing relationship with Jesus. We're so excited to be able to gather with them and build into them as leaders tomorrow.
2. Then Sunday night, you can get connected with a community group at our Orillia Group Link. For details, click here. If you've been attending for a while, this is your next step. Bring your questions, bring your desire to grow in a relationship with Jesus. Sunday night, we'll get you connected in a community group. (Barrie's Group Link happens Sunday, April 25th).

Sunday morning, Everything I Needed to Know About Work I Learned from Classic Rock is in full swing at our campuses. I love the note I got from a Barrie campus attendee last weekend. He said he thought the series would be boring because it was about work, but he thought he'd attend anyway. Part way into the message, he was wishing everyone he works with was there with him. He felt like everyone needed to hear it. How cool is that? Maybe you could call up a co-worker and invite them along on Sunday.

So, without further delay, here's what's up at Connexus on Sunday:

Part 2 | Working for the Weekend

All of us struggle to find satisfying meaning in work – envious of people with better careers and greater rewards. What happens if your work feels like it has little meaning? Do you just work for the weekend? We'll explore what the Bible teaches about finding meaning in any job, no matter how dead end it might seem.

Part 1 | Taking Care of Business

One of the major reasons people resent or resist work is that it's so political. People climb over each other to get ahead – all in the name of power and self-fulfillment. No wonder we get sick of it and want to opt out. How should power be used? How should we take care of business? Jesus’ radical view on this turns things upside down.
