Orillia Relaunching! Our Movie Theatre Experience

We’re relaunching our in-person experience in Orillia this fall. It’s going to be great to have an in-person opportunity to invite friends and connect in community in the Orillia area. This relaunch season will have a few bumps as we get our legs under us, but it’s exciting to be moving ahead.

We’re looking forward to hosting you and your guests at the Cineplex in Orillia. At the same time, given current health restrictions, your in-person experience will be a little different, and we wanted to share some of the details with you.

Reserve Seating and Check-In

One of the important new parts of the experience is your need to reserve seats for the service ahead of time. You may have already done this for other events. This allows us to adhere to the theatre COVID capacity guidelines as we gather inside their venue. All adults and kids must pre-register for the service they are attending. We’re excited to know you are coming.

Of course, when you arrive, you’ll want to check-in inside the front doors to let us know you are there. We’ll be waiting to say hi!

New Worship Experience

For a season, we’ll be trying something new that we’ve never done before. Our worship experience will be hosted on the large screen in the theatre. In fact, our musicians are working on a special custom worship experience each week just for Orillia. While the Cineplex movie theatres aren’t comfortable having singers without masks on stage yet, we’ve found a unique solution that we think will engage you in a new way this fall. We’ve seen this approach work well at other churches. We’ll also have a live host in the room–keep your eye out for Campus Pastor Joseph Swan in his mask! 🙂

Youth Ministry? We Love the Next Gen!

For this semester, we’ve also moved both Transit (grades 5-8) and InsideOut (grades 9-12) to Tuesday night from 7-9pm at Orillia Christian School. These will be two separate environments for students to invite their friends and make their faith their own. The new venue and new night allow for more physical capacity to host students under the guidelines, and give us more space for our team to be creative on each night.

Coffee? Definitely!

We know you need your caffeine fix in the morning! So, yes, there will be coffee and tea served on Sundays by the theatre staff. Enjoy a cup on us!

Do I Need a Vaccine Passport Since We Are Meeting in a Movie Theatre?

Updated September 22, 2021

After taking time to review the government guidelines in consultation with our local MPP, Cineplex recently confirmed that they will require proof of vaccination for anyone aged 12+ attending functions in their buildings, including church services.

Here is what this means:

1. If you are vaccinated, you will need to bring a photo ID and a copy of your government-issued vaccine certificate. Those under 12 are exempt from showing proof of vaccination. Cineplex is flexible on what photo ID you bring with you.

2. If you are not able to show proof of vaccination, you will not be able to attend in-person at the theatre for now, but we invite you to join us online or in Barrie. We look forward to connecting with you in this way in this season.
