REFLECT

In our society today, we are told to be strong and independent: to live for ourselves and take our own lives into our own hands. Yet, low self-esteem and mental illness are at an all-time high. Why? We are called to live our life for Jesus, not ourselves. When we give up our own life to follow Jesus, we truly experience what it is to actually live life. By embracing God and His word, we will find purpose and meaning in our lives. We will find freedom.

I remember when I first started seeking Jesus and began to fall in love with Him. It almost felt like I was “cheating” on my husband and children. Shouldn’t I love my family more than anything? Yet, the more I fell in love with Jesus, the more I loved my husband and children. And then the more I loved myself. It was amazing! As I continued to grow in my relationship with Jesus, I began to see that my life really was worth nothing without God. God loves me. God has a purpose for me. All he asks is that I follow him.

Giving up my life (my ego, my desires, my finances, and my plans) to follow the cross has given me purpose.

BOTTOM LINE

Embracing God’s will for our lives will give us purpose and meaning.

LIVE

When we are unsure of our purpose in life, we can turn to God’s word for answers. He has a plan for us, one that he designed even before we were born. Follow the cross and you will find freedom.

PRAY

For courage to give up your life to follow Jesus.
