So we're wrapping up our week long series of posts about what we believe with a final statement about what we, at Connexus, believe about the church:
We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making Him known to the lost world.
It's an interesting contrast to a poll I heard about conducted a number of years ago, in which 89% of church members thought the church existed for the benefit of them and their family. Nope. It's about Christ, and it's about others.
That's why I love the heart of the people at Connexus. You really care about friends and neighbours who doesn't go to church and your love for Jesus is contagious. Sure, we have a long way to go, but the foundation God is building underneath is solid.
Is this what you have always believed about the church? How does this view challenge or reshape your thinking?
