Why I’m Fasting Tomorrow

Tomorrow I'm not eating any food. I'm fasting.

We're on the verge of something that I think could significantly transform the lives of hundreds of families and the future of Connexus.  And I want to be ready.  So I'm fasting and some of our staff and key team are as well. (Next week we'll invite everyone to fast with us for a day.)

Fasting heightens my prayer life.  Every time I feel hungry, it reminds me of my need for God and focuses me on what I need to pray about.

Tomorrow I'm praying for the Thrive Initiative.  We're launching it with a three week series which kicks off  Sunday March 27th in Barrie and Sunday April 3rd in Orillia.  My prayer is that Thrive will revolutionize peoples' lives.  Click here to watch short video that explains where we're going with Thrive.

I seriously think we could look back on this moment months from now and realize it was a turning point for finding freedom for hundreds of families and for our mission at Connexus.

Here's what you can do right now to help us get ready for this moment:

  1. Pray
  2. Don't miss Sunday.
  3. Bring your friends – this is a message that I think so many people need to hear and will be so grateful you invited them.  The freedom on the other side of Thrive is huge.

There will be a lot more to come in the coming weeks.  But all I can say is I'm looking forward to it all…because I think that what God is going to do to transform families and fuel our collective mission could be incredible.

fasting is great…and we can fast from so many different things, not just food. we’ll have many people in the community that fasting from food for is not a good plan – people with issues, past or present, around food and eating, breastfeeding moms, pregnant women, people with health issues etc etc.for whom it would be really helpful to have some information on fasting. do you have any guidelines and info on fasting? i’ve had a look on the webiste and this blog but couldn’t find any. many thanks, em
