Three Quick Wins

Hey Folks…just some really quick pieces of good news that we received half way through a Monday…

i.We think we have the go-ahead on a really cool way to do Christmas Eve service together.  Stay tuned.  We hope to have something to announce shortly.  We've been working on this for a month, and a few more things have to fall into place, but if it all works out, I can promise you that you've never had a Christmas like this before!

ii.  There were 158 kids out yesterday at Connexus.  That rocks.  You know how much kids matter to God and to us.  That was quite a bit higher than we expected for soft launch, and no service was overcrowded, because we have four services on two campuses.  So there's plenty of room for growth.  All in all, the more kids, the better.  Bring 'em on!

iii.  You are generous, again!  Our offering yesterday was $69,000.  Over $55,000 in over-and-above giving was received toward our $800,000 goal ($600K + $200K), plus almost $14,000 in general offering.   We appreciate your quick and generous response.   We want every family to participate in  the founding of Connexus in some meaningful financial way. If you haven't made a commitment to an over-and-above gift yet, please do so this week and bring it with you this weekend.  I think you'll find long-term that you won't want to miss out on the blessings that come from generosity toward God and others.

Looking forward to all that's ahead.

Hi Carey and all the people of Connexus.
    God is amazing.
Your leap of faith is awe-inspiring to other communities of God.
I have been and will continue to pray that God guides you with an overflowing Spirit to accomplish the mission He has given you.
    Keep living the faith.
Have a wonderful week with Jesus.

That is so great about the 158 kids at Connexus. Unfortunately, I have an opposite story. I'm sad today. My son is in grade 5 and today was the day the Gideon bible folks give their free bibles to the grade fives. Our school is directly in the catchement area of Connexus (south east Barrie). Kids needed permission from their parents to get a bible from the Gideons. We have 100 grade five kids at our school. Guess how many got permission from their parents to get a FREE bible?

I am praying for those poor Gideon's to keep the faith; it must be so discouraging for them. And I'm praying for Connexus and churches like it who are committed to reaching the youth. We are SO needed.
