This Weekend @ Connexus | November 21st, 2010

We're excited to have the Like Me series all about social media, faith and relationships in full motion at our campuses this weekend. If you attend our Orillia campus, you won't want to be late. We've got something fun and a bit hard to believe right at the beginning of the service.

In Barrie, we've got some fun pre-service elements planned and overflow will be open at 10:00. So bring your friends.

And whatever campus you're at, make sure you bring your phones. We'd love to interact more with you! You can find Connexus on twitter and on Facebook. And you connect with our staff on Facebook and twitter easily. You can find us all here.

Anyway, bring your friends for what is shaping up to be a great weekend @connexuschurch!

Like Me | Week Two: Conflicted (Carey Nieuwhof)

Facebook bullying. Defriending. Messages that say things you would never say face to face. Why is it that we feel we can say and do things online that we would never say or do offline? How do you handle online conflict? Join us as we explore what to do when you are offended or when you are the offender.Service Times: 8:30 -9:40am & 10:00-11:10am | Galaxy Cinema 72 Commerce Park Drive Barrie

Like Me | Week One:  All About Me (Carey Nieuwhof)

You can publish a lot of information about yourself on line.  Between your profile, your photos and a constant stream of updates about what you’re up to lurks a question: does social media fuel narcissism?  What can you do to guard your soul against your online presence being all about you?

Service Times: 8:30–9:40am & 10:00-11:10am | Galaxy Cinema 865 West Ridge Blvd. Orillia

I have been talking about Connexus with my girlfriends’ group and recently invited them all out to see why I find it so inspiring and thought-provoking. One friend accepted the invitation and came out last week. We went out after the service for lunch at Kelseys with the $50 gift cert and had great conversation. She returned this week with her 17 year old son.

I am a 15year old who had a hockey team mate sleep over last Saturday after a game. He came to church with me Sunday morning and found it very different than what he was expecting. His mom was impressed that he could recount the whole message to her.
He really liked the music too.

Last week was our first experience at Connexus. We were invited by our friends Laura and Ken Se thing – we were connected. We were not busy making lists and planning meals, work, etc.cott. My husband, myself and our daughter all enjoyed the experience very much and were excited to return this Sunday. We were not dissapointed. We find it engaging. We all felt the same and my only wish is that we had found you guys or you had found us before our son left for university. Cannot wait to introduce him. We enjoy the conversations and the interaction it invokes in us after the service. It has been a long time since we’ve discussed what we got out of church service. Everything is so relative. Thank you and see you next week.

Love hearing stories like these! Joel…any time a 15 year old can recall an entire message, that’s a win! Thanks for inviting your friends.

Ann and Ed…does your son know about our podcasts? He can find us on iTunes or watch at It’s not fully community, but at least it’s a connection of some kind!
