This Weekend @ Connexus | August 2, 2009

You've heard us talk about creating 'irresistible environments' at Connexus for adults and kids. I'm so grateful for our Family Ministry staff and team that works hard every single week to make our children and student environments as compelling as possible.

From the truth-is-stranger-and-more-interesting-than-fiction department, did you catch this story out of Utah? A seven year old boy so didn't want to go to church that he got behind the wheel of his parents Intrepid and drove himself home, with police in pursuit the whole way. (You've got to watch the video – watch right till the end. It's worth it.) Clearly, his church did not run UpStreet.

So, needless to say, I'm going to high five our family ministry people all weekend long. And I hope that not only will you join us this weekend, but that you'll bring some friends and family into an environment that for adults, students and kids, we pray will be irresistible.

In Barrie, we start a brand new two week series called "Plunge". This Sunday is perfect for that friend who says "I believe in parts of Christianity, but I like to stay spiritually open and explore all my options." For the next two weekends, we'll look at why people have made the decision to fully commit to Christ and why that decision remains the best decision you can make. If you've ever wondered it you're missing out because you've committed to Christ, if you've wondered how commitment can really bring freedom, don't miss the beginning of Plunge!

In Orillia, it's a perfect weekend to invite a friend who is struggling with the desire to get even. Andy Stanley wraps up The Legend of Joe Jacobson with a powerful message about how to use power, especially the power and opportunity to get even. It's an amazing series and a fantastic message.

Here are the exact details. Hope to see you this incredible weekend!

Plunge
Part One – Options Open

Some of us are just not into commitment. We'll keep our options open, thank you very much. Why not be open to new ideas? Be free to see other people? Why commit when you can have it all? But what if the  freedom you are seeking through non-commitment was best found through commitment? What if there is a deeper freedom that comes from taking the plunge?

The Legend of Joe Jacobson
Part Three – Right Where You Want 'Em

How do you respond when those who have hurt you are now at your mercy? As Joseph’s story concludes, we find him in a position to take revenge against his brothers. Yet his example teaches that forgiveness isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s a sign of strength. Instead of looking back, Joseph chose to look up.

All Family Ministry Environments from Birth – Gr. 8 will be running from June 28th – August 30th at 10:00am ONLY.
On Upstreet, our Grade 1-5 environment, we start a 10 week series from June 28th – August 30th that follows the adventures of Molly Pickens and the Rainy Day Castle.

Service Times: 8:30 & 10:00 am | Galaxy Theaters Orillia 865 West Ridge Blvd.
