Scripture: Luke 21:1–4 (NLT)
“This poor widow has given more than all the rest of them. For they have given a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has.”
Reflection:
Jesus notices the unnoticed. In a temple full of wealthy givers, he sees a widow drop in two small coins worth almost nothing. But in heaven’s economy, she just gave the largest gift in the room.
Her story exposes a truth: God measures generosity not by amount but by trust. The others gave comfortably; she gave courageously.
We often wait to give until we feel safe. The widow reminds us that giving is never about safety; instead, it’s about surrender. She believed God could do more with her two coins than she could do with ten.
The heart of giving isn’t obligation; it’s faith in motion.
Bottom Line:
The size of the gift matters less than the size of the faith behind it.
Prayer:
Jesus, help me trust that you can do more with my gift than I ever could alone. Amen.
