Remove The Veil

Before You Begin

Pause. Quiet your mind, take a slow breath in and out. Stay in this moment.

Passage

2 Corinthians 3:16-18

Reading & Reflection

As we approach this time of ‘the sacred homecoming', God is calling us to turn to HIM and this scripture is resurfacing again.

Turning towards HIM implies turning away from self-absorption; from our plans, worries, and preoccupations. This passage talks about the ministry of the Holy Spirit in a believer’s life, the Spirit comes to continue the redemptive work of Jesus in our lives.

When we place faith in Jesus, our spirits are renewed, but our minds need to be transformed by the workings of the Holy Spirit. The mind is the battleground of life. It is often cluttered with fears, worries, ambitions, desires, and so many things that make it difficult for us to truly see and experience the love of God our Father.

God promises to remove the veil when we turn to him. The veil signifies anything that prevents us from experiencing more of God’s love, presence, and power. This could be in the form of anxieties, mindsets, addictions, distractions, etc. … the cares of this world.

Turning to the Lord can take various forms, such as choosing to spend more time in the Word or fasting from the routines and temptations of modern-day living, like TV, cell phones, or fast food.

The Holy Spirit will gently nudge us to let us know which of these apply to us.

Once the veil is removed, we can see and experience the love of God, our Father, who sent Jesus to pay the ultimate price and bring us into a relationship with him.

As we return to Him in prayer and worship, we have the opportunity to allow His love to free us from the shackles that hold us down, so we can experience true freedom and all that He has in store for us.

Remember, God promises to remove the veil when we turn to HIM.

Bottom line: What veil needs removing so you can experience more of God?

Morning Prayer

Father, I confess that my preoccupation with my life has prevented me from recognizing your love for me. Help me to totally surrender my cares, worries, anxieties and ambitions to you so I can begin to see your glory in Jesus' name. Let us see and reflect your glory, Lord.

Evening Prayer

Father, thank you for your love for me, which is boundless and limitless. Thank you for this opportunity to experience your glory in every area of my life. Help me allow the Holy Spirit to reflect your glory in my life, now and always. Amen.
