Give your kids the advantage

How to Give Your Kids An Advantage This Weekend

We LOVE families at Connexus.
That's why we were so excited to introduce new service times last month of 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at both locations (we said goodbye to 8:30 and 10:00 a.m.). You can catch some pics and highlights from our campus grand openings here.
A few weeks into the change we're super excited by what we're seeing. Families are loving the new 9 a.m. service time. In fact, most Sundays, there are even a few more people at the 9 a.m. service now than the 10:30, which is great.
It gives us room to grow at both services and both service times are easy to bring friends to (as opposed to 8;30…which was a stretch for most people).

Here's an Easy Advantage You Can Give Your Kids

The #1 thing to keep in mind as families is that attending the same service every Sunday gives your kids an advantage.
Why? Because although the experience is the SAME for adults at both services, the only way your child gets the SAME small group leader each week is if they attend the SAME service each week.
While Transit, our student environment for kids in grades 6-8 is only offered at the 9 a.m. service, our preschool environment (Waumba Land) and our elementary environment (UpStreet) are offered at both services each week. So we encourage parents to pick either the 9 or 10:30 service and attend that same service time each week.  That gives your child the same small group leaders week in and week out.
We think having the same small group leader is critical for a few reasons:

  1. We don't do babysitting…we invest in your kids. Small group leaders take the time to know your child and even to pray for them during the week.
  2. We are committed to having another voice saying the same thing a loving parent would say in each child's life…and your child will listen most to a leader they know well.
  3. Your child will develop friendships with the other kids in his or her group if they attend the same group each week. As you know, your kids friends help shape the quality and direction of their lives.
  4. As a parent, you'll get to know your kids' small group leader. What parent doesn't want someone else in their corner?

So we're super encouraged about the service time changes. So why not pick a service and consistently attend the same one each week?
The biggest beneficiaries will be your kids.
And by the way, the series on prayer continues this weekend.
Can't wait to preach…so join us and bring a friend!
Here's what's happening.

Pursue[d] — Part 3 — Shopping List | Carey Nieuwhof

Often when we go to God in prayer, we show up with a list of all the things we’d like God to do. Not only does Jesus show us how to handle that list, he shows us another couple of other lists we often neglect.

Pursue[d] — Part 2 — (My) Thy Kingdom Come | Carey Nieuwhof

Prayer is often a battle between two kingdoms—yours and God’s. And let’s be honest, it’s hard to focus on God’s Kingdom when your life is filled with problems. Jesus shows us a practical way to put God’s kingdom ahead of ours every time we pray.

See you Sunday. It's going to be incredible!
