Let's be FOR the Hungry in 2023

We are thrilled to partner with Kids Against Hunger to host our fourth annual FOR The Hungry event at Connexus!

On Saturday, November 25th in Barrie and  Orillia, we are excited to volunteer together to pack thousands of meals for clients of our local partners and indigenous communities in Northern Ontario.

Join us as we kick off the Christmas season with FOR The Hungry, and the opportunity to be FOR our communities in a practical way. This is a great event to invite your friends and family to. Simply select your location and sign up for a volunteer shift by clicking the button above.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes please! We have limited space but lots to pack. Knowing when you are coming is helpful as we plan to get all the meal packing complete.

You bet! Children ages 5-10 should be paired up with an adult when they serve. Children 11 and up can serve on their own. If you are a one parent family and have two children ages 5-10 please let us know so we can help you find another adult! We want everyone to be able to participate.

If you have children under the age of 5 but would still like to participate, you can register them for child care which will be offered at each of our morning shifts.

You can register to serve for one meal packing shift. But if you would like to participate more, consider volunteering in Child Care or on the Guest Experience / Hospitality team as well!

Please do! This is a great event to invite your friends, neighbours, co-workers or family to join in!  In fact, last year we had three generations of one family serving together!

Great Question! Last year we shared some of the meals with The Lighthouse and The Sharing Place. The bulk of the meals were distributed to Indigenous communities in Northern Ontario. This year we will offer the meals to the same organizations and other Foodbanks in the area.

Absolutely! If you can’t join us in person on November 25, please plan to pray with us for the recipients of the meals we will pack. Consider praying throughout the day at each of the meal packing shift times and pray for our local partners and the Indigenous communities in Northern Ontario who will receive these meals.
