Scripture: Proverbs 22:7 (NLT)
“Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender.”
Reflection:
Debt is normal in our culture, but normal isn’t always healthy. Scripture doesn’t call debt sin, but it does call it servitude. It limits freedom and locks future generosity.
Debt makes promises it can’t keep. It says, “You can have it now,” but the cost is peace later. God’s heart for you is freedom; freedom to give, to rest, to live unburdened.
Facing debt requires courage and patience. You can’t fix it overnight, but you can start. Create a plan, get help if needed, and celebrate small victories. Every step is a step toward breathing room.
God isn’t ashamed of where you are. He’s simply inviting you to walk with him toward freedom.
Bottom Line:
Debt limits your freedom; stewardship restores it.
Prayer:
God, give me wisdom and courage to face where I am and take steps toward freedom. Amen.
