Big Weekend @ Connexus + Thank You!

It's going to be a great weekend at Connexus. Andy Stanley's Why Worry series has really struck a chord with people. We can't keep the messages in stock! You can download the first two parts of the series here if you prefer. Make sure you tell some friends about the series and don't miss Sunday.  In fact, show up a few minutes early because we have a little something special planned pre-service. Details are below, and remember, this is a Muskoka weekend – so have your friends and family join us at 6:00 p.m. for Connexus Muskoka in Bracebridge.

Before we get to the details though, we want to say THANK YOU! A few weeks ago, I shared  a message about our financial situation. It's never easy to talk about money, but you made it much easier by your gracious and concerned response. Clearly, you care deeply about our mission as we do. It has been very exciting to see many people begin to respond. In the last few weeks, we have seen offerings of $26,000 and $33,000 vs our revised weekly target of $21,000 and $22,000 per week respectively. A large portion of that amount over our target is from several large cheques. The good news is that this has really started to help with our cash flow crunch. Additionally, our regular giving has increased ($16,320 April 26th and $22,240 on May 3rd). We are very grateful for that and hope that we continue to see our regular (weekly giving) increase as this is the key to helping us sustain long term financial health. So thank you for an early and promising response.  Several more months of sustained, strong weekly giving will put us in the best position to continue to create a church that people who don't go to church want to attend.  In the end, we just want to see as many people as possible come into a growing relationship with Christ.

Now the details for what promises to be a fantastic weekend for you and your friends…make sure you're bringing someone with you Sunday!

Part Three: Now And Then
We rarely worry about the present. What we really worry about is what may or may not happen in the future. And we usually forget what has already happened in the past. We forget about how our worries didn't help alleviate our fears. In this session, we'll learn about a person who forgot about God's past faithfulness. His worries drove him to a place emotionally, spiritually, physically, and relationally he should never have gone. And in response, God asked him a very important question that continues to speak to us today.

Part Two: Switching Sides

What are you worrying about these days? Most likely, your worry reflects your devotion. In other words, if you want to know what you are most devoted to, look at the things you worry about the most. Jesus understood the connection between our worries and our devotion. As a result, his approach to overcoming the paralyzing effects of worry starts with challenging not just how we handle our worries but, more importantly, where we place our devotion.
