Big Weekend @Connexus Barrie | Orillia | MUSKOKA Sunday March 8th

A lot of us have waited a LONG time for this day, and it's finally here. Not only are we in the heart of Orange Families, a series close to the heart of what we are all about at Connexus, but on Sunday night we open up our third venue as Connexus Muskoka launches.

We have journeyed with about 50 people for a few years now who long to see the kind of environment they can invite their friends into in their own neighbourhood. Sunday night at 6 pm at the Rene Caisse Theater in Bracebridge we are going to open the doors for the first time for them, their friends and neighbours. This is the first Sunday night monthly service we're offering to help launch Connexus Muskoka. Here's how we can all get involved in the launch:

   1. Pray. Ministry is one of those beautiful collisions of the divine and human. We will do all we can do to create the kind of environment where people from every background can enter into a growing relationship with Jesus, but unless God moves, nothing will actually happen. So pray with us that the people who have been invited to attend will come and take a step toward Jesus – whatever that means for them.
   2. Invite. Know someone in Muskoka who you think would benefit from attending Connexus? Invite them. Use our e-vite or give them a call. Know a Christian in Muskoka who is not currently attending church? Tell them about Muskoka. We need people to get involved.
   3. Give. The more you give of your time and of your resources to make Connexus as a whole stronger (whatever campus you attend), the more we will be able to get the resources and strength we need to launch weekly Sunday morning gatherings in Muskoka in the fall of 2009. The best gift Barrie and Orillia can give to Muskoka is to pray, invite and then contribute to creating excellence in Barrie and Orillia so Muskoka can be supported by a strong overall ministry. So if you're not serving, serve, and if you're not giving, please give.

Other than that, I hope you love surprises. Both Orange Families messages this weekend have surprising elements to them – we're talking about fighting and selfishness in families in our messages. I'm coming out in favour of both. Find out why on Sunday. (Oh, and if you are attending in Orillia and Muskoka this weekend, come early so you can fully participate in another fun thing we have planned.)

Part Four | Make it Personal
When you sign up for parenting, you sign up for sacrifice.  But there is one thing a parent should never sacrifice.  In fact, if you do, you may lose the thing that will ultimately be the most important thing in your child’s life as well as in yours.

Part Three | Fight for the Heart
Rules. Relationships. Families are a mixture of both. Sometimes, though, in the midst of dealing with rules, families lose can lose the relationship. When you lose the relationship, you can lose your child’s heart. This weekend, we’ll look at why it’s so critical for parents to fight for the heart of their child.
