Scripture: Ecclesiastes 5:10 NLT
“Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness!”
Reflection:
If anyone could prove that “more” satisfies, it was Solomon. Yet after all the gold, palaces, and projects, he confesses it’s meaningless. Why? Because appetite always expands. More doesn’t solve emptiness; it magnifies it.
We often think contentment lives one promotion away. But the lie of “more” keeps us restless. Jesus never condemned wealth; he just refused to let it define worth. Possessions aren’t the problem; misplaced hope is.
The antidote to greed isn’t guilt, it’s gratitude. When you practice thankfulness, you break the illusion that joy depends on increase. Tonight, before you sleep, name three things you already have that bring peace. Let gratitude reset your definition of “enough.”
Bottom Line:
If more was the answer, Solomon would’ve been the happiest man alive.
Prayer:
Lord, silence the voice that says I need more. Open my eyes to the blessings I already hold. Amen.
