REFLECT

Almost thirty years ago my dad started a small business. It was a start up, tight on cash and very small. One afternoon a man came into the shop on the way to his cottage and asked if my dad could build a plastic prototype for a pager/phone he was trying to build for his new company. The only catch was, he didn’t have the money to pay my dad. He too was starting a new business and had little cash. He did, however, offer my dad stock in exchange for the work.

My dad decided against it in the end because, at the time, he couldn’t afford to work for stock. Looking back on it, my father is quite sure that the man who visited him that day was Mike Lazaridis. And the company he had just started was Research in Motion, maker of the soon-to-be-famous BlackBerry.

If you only knew. Even though RIM’s stock has fallen badly in the last few years, even today’s devalued stock would have made my father an extremely wealthy man.

My dad doesn’t regret that decision (too much). It would have jeopardized his new company and in the end, he did quite well in business. But it’s moments like that which only come around once in a lifetime.

A woman standing by a well had one of those moments. She didn’t just meet a man that day, she met Jesus, the man who was the Saviour of the world. As Jesus himself said as she was coming to terms with who she was talking to: “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” (John 4:10)

BOTTOM LINE

Do you know who you’re dealing with in Jesus? Do you really know what’s at stake? Do you really know how powerfully he can change your life and the life of your friends and family if you boldly trust him? Do you know?

LIVE

Today, realize that you bring Jesus with you wherever you go. When you introduce people to him, you introduce them to someone who will change their life and eternity.

PRAY

Pray that you will develop a bold, trusting faith in Jesus.
