City Council Approval and an Incredible Journey Ahead

Tonight, Barrie City Council gave final approval to the rezoning we requested on the 20 Mills Road property we are considering for a permanent location for Connexus.
We are incredibly thankful to Barrie City Council for their support.  City council and many city staff worked long and hard on this proposal and we are very thankful that it passed!  To Mayor Jeff Lehman, Councillors John Brassard and Alex Nuttall, and the exceptional city hall staff team, we say thank you!  Also, there have been members of our Connexus team who have worked so long and so hard on this.  To say we are grateful is an understatement.  And thank you to all of you who have come out to the town halls meetings we held at our campuses, who came to City Hall with us in April, and to those of you have been praying and giving boldly.  Wow!  What a great team.
While this is certainly a major part of what we need to make the 20 Mills Road Initiative move ahead, it is not the only part of the proposal we are working on.  There are several other hurdles we need to clear in the next 30 days, including financing (which is proving to be a big issue), in order for us to be in a position to move ahead on 20 Mills Road.  We will keep you posted on all of that as it develops.
While there are still hurdles to clear on 20 Mills Road, I just want to remind all of us that we are fully committed to taking the next step together to advance the mission of Connexus Church.  We are excited about going further and faster together, whatever shape that initiative might take.  We are very grateful to City Council for their support throughout.
Stay tuned – a great journey is ahead for sure!
