Because You Were Asking…

You’ve often walked away on a Sunday with questions.  Sure, maybe the message inspired you, but you still had things you wondered about.
And then there are times you’ve walked away saying “That was interesting, but I wonder what they would say about __________ (pick another subject).”
And finally, you have friends who have thought about coming to church but haven’t yet because the thing that bothers them most about Christianity or church has never been addressed from the front.
That’s why we’re so excited about the Hotseat series starting this Sunday, November 13th in Barrie and Sunday November 20th in Orillia.   We’re taking five of the most controversial topics in the church and life today and addressing them as honestly and openly as we can.  What especially exciting is that we generated this series based on your input over the last few months.
Here are the five big questions we’re tackling, one each week:

  • Why would a loving God send anyone to hell?
  • The Bible is thousands of years old.  How we can even be sure it’s accurate or trustworthy today?
  • Why does God seem so uptight about sex? Is it really just for married people?
  • Do gays and lesbians have a place in the church today?
  • Why is the God of the Old Testament so mad?

Those are five of the biggest questions you and your friends are asking.  Can’t wait to begin the conversation.
Hope you will take a minute this week and invite your friends.   Why not get in touch with a friend today and offer to pick them up Sunday…even grab a bite together after the service to talk about it.
It’s going to be an exciting month or so ahead at Connexus.  Oh – and stay tuned for our Christmas announcements.  One of the most exciting Christmases we’ve had yet.
