Four Reasons You Should Get Baptized

So you might know we’re holding baptism services on August 12 at Bass Lake.  But you think the baptisms are for someone else.
What if they’re not?  What if baptism is the right next step for you?
Here are five reasons you might want to think about being baptized.

1.  As a Christ follower, you qualify.  You don’t need to clean up your life first or be ‘good enough’ for baptism. In fact, baptism is a symbol that reminds us that Jesus saves us because we couldn’t save ourselves.  If you’ve decided to trust Jesus with your life and make him your Saviour, you’re eligible to be baptized.

2. It’s Your Next Step. In the New Testament,  baptism wasn’t even much of an option for new believers – they were baptized right after they decided to follow Jesus.  They were even told they needed to be baptized.  If you’ve made a decision to commit your life to Christ, it’s a normal next step.  What’s keeping you back?

3. It’s a Defining Moment. Sometimes there are moments that serve as milemarkers in your life – a moment that redefines who you are.  Baptism can be that for you:  a chance to say to God, to yourself, and to the world that you are different because Christ now lives in you.  30 years from now, you likely won’t remember what happened today, but 30 years from now you’ll still the day you were baptized.

4. God Will Use You to Impact Others.  Personal stories are compelling.  People might disagree with an interpretation of a bible passage or an argument about the existence of God, but they can’t argue with a person story.  When you’re baptized at Connexus, we film a two minute version of your story that hundreds of people will watch.  You’ve seen them – they’re moving and compelling.  When was the last time hundreds of people heard your story?  Probably never.  Why not allow what God has done in your life to help and encourage others to come to faith or grow in faith?  You’ve got a story (even if you think you don’t) and we’re so excited to be able to share it.

Sitting on the fence about baptism?  If you’ve trusted your life to Christ, why not make a next step in faith and submit to baptism.  Even Jesus himself did.
If you have questions, we’d love to talk with you about it. Just leave a comment here or email me at [email protected].
Looking forward to seeing many people baptized this year!
