This Weekend @ Connexus | May 17th, 2009

As the 400 northbound is filling up, our team of staffing and volunteers have been gearing up all day Friday for an incredible long weekend at Connexus.

Things are in overdrive as we start a brand new series, Signs from Beyond at our Barrie Campus and wrap up Why Worry in Orillia.  In Signs from Beyond, we'll explore how people today can actually discover God's will for their lives. Got a question about direction in your life? Don't miss this series. In Orillia, we'll finish the final part of Why Worry – a great series about trust and devotion. All our Sunday morning environments are running in full gear this weekend! Looks like the weather is going to be subpar anyway, so make plans to be here with the family.

Here's a snippet of some of the conversations and encounters we had last weekend:

  • One woman wrote "Thank you for this place, even though at times I don't understand it all….I am amazed."
  • I met a guy in his early 20s who came out with his mom (who gave up on church years back) and several friends and loved it. He hadn't been to church at all in his life. He's coming back.
  • People are being challenged and surprised with the tithe challenge. God is showing up in some amazing ways in people's lives. Thanks for sharing with us how God is surprising you already.

We're so excited to be able to be the kind of church unchurched people would love to come back to. Make sure you bring some friends this long weekend!

Oh, and we'll be making a surprise announcement on Sunday about something many of you have been waiting a loonnnggg time to hear about. Stay tuned!  See you Sunday!

Signs from Beyond – Week One: Abducted
Listening for God to speak audibly to us or to constantly look for signs from God leads to subjective and inherently unreliable communication. As we grow in faith, God reveals a better path of communication for us. When you begin to understand that channel of communication, your relationship with God moves to much more solid ground.

Why Worry – Part Three: Now and Then
We rarely worry about the present. What we really worry about is what may or may not happen in the future. And we usually forget what has already happened in the past. We forget about how our worries didn't help alleviate our fears. In this session, we'll learn about a person who forgot about God's past faithfulness. His worries drove him to a place emotionally, spiritually, physically, and relationally he should never have gone. And in response, God asked him a very important question that continues to speak to us today.

Service Times: 8:30 & 10:00 am | Galaxy Theaters Orillia 865 West Ridge Blvd.
