The Launch Begins

–>
Welcome to Connexus!  We are 74 days away from Sunday, December 2nd, which we plan will mark the public launch of a brand new Christian experience in Central Ontario.  In my heart, in the heart of our core leadership team and in the heart of hundreds of other people is a dream to open a new church that will be a place for people outside the Christian faith to explore a relationship with Jesus like they never have before.  It’s an incredible risk motivated by faith, as the team that is currently giving leadership at Trinity Community Church <http://www.trinitycommunity.org>   steps away from the denominational ties of that congregation to fulfill a vision God has rooted in the hearts of so many of us: to reach more and more people with Christ’s love in Oro-Medonte, Barrie, Orillia, Muskoka, Toronto and beyond — one church, multiple locations.

Over the next few months, we’ll blog the journey to Connexus and invite you and your friends into the experience of the Connexus Community.  Over the next two months in this space, this blog will fill up with personal stories, visions and plans. Eventually, the blog itself will be transformed into the full site for Connexus Community Church. Before then, we’ll talk about the Connexus name (how did we come up with that?), get your feedback on logos for the new church, share with you how you can get involved and how you can partner with us and explore Connexus’ partnership with North Point Community Church. This is the place where we’ll share all the details of what Connexus will become as the story gets written. Together, we all get to be part of this story that is literally unfolding before our eyes and that we believe God is writing. We’ll dialogue together in this space and give everyone a chance to get in on the ground floor of a mission we pray will become a movement.

I’m just so excited you got here on day one when all this really is a dream that will require God-sized faith to bring about. Get this — as I write this, Connexus doesn’t yet legally exist.  We don’t have a place to meet or even have a bank account.  We have zero dollars. Just faith.  Just hope.  Just a plan to reach people we know and people we don’t know in places we may never visit.  We want God to call the limits on this, not people.  And we’re inviting all of you (the people of Trinity and beyond) who have a heart to reach your friends and neighbours to join us in creating relevant environments where people on the outside can discover love that’s alive in Jesus.  What today is just a dream will take shape over the next 74 days: tomorrow, the incorporation papers will be sent to Industry Canada establishing Connexus as a church.  Later this week, we will reserve some pretty cool meeting space for Connexus in the event we are not be able to close the deal to buy the current Trinity facility for use by Connexus.  Either way, we’re so pumped about what’s coming.  We just think God has way more invested in this than any of us do.

Stay tuned.  We’ll run through this step by step….as we journey to a new community where we believe thousands of lives will be changed when people get to know Jesus in a way they’ve never met Him before.
