Summer Book Club?

So . . . it’s June!  That means Summer – right?  I hope so.  Before you know it we’ll be in the thick of whatever makes summer great.

I was wondering if anyone wanted to do Virtual Book Club here on the Connexus blog.  This is how it would work . . .

If you are interested in being in the book club you let us know by filling in a comment below.  Preferably with your "I’m interested!" you’d also nominate some books that you think we should read.  (With a couple reasons for why you think that would be a good read.)  We’d read one book over the course of the summer in each of these three catagories:

  • Spiritual Development – Something to deepen our soul.
  • Leadership – Something to develop our leadership acumen.
  • Fun – Something just for the fun of it.

After a series of books are nominated . . . I’ll narrow it down to a few selections in each category.  Then we’ll vote on which books we should do.  Remember the point of a book club isn’t that you always get to read the books that you want to read . . . but that you read stuff that is good to read.

Once the books are selected we’ll set out a reading schedule.  We’ll try to make sure it’s at a good pace for everyone to enjoy their summer and reading too.

We’ll also have regular blog posts through the summer that will ask questions about what we’ve been reading.  Each person will also be asked to submit a summary of their take away(s) from the books we’re reading.

So . . . whadda think?  Does that sound like fun?  Something that you’d like to do?  Start commenting!
