Our Big Announcement: A Permanent Facility For Connexus?

So if you were at one of our campuses this morning, you heard our big announcement: this spring, we’re submitting an application to rezoning a piece of property that will serve as a new central facility for Connexus Church.  We’re calling it the 20 Mills Road Initiative (that’s the address of the proposed new facility).
In case you missed it, here’s the announcement:

We’re excited by the ability to take this bold step to advance our mission. A facility, of course, is not the mission, nor will it ever be.  But we hope it will help us accomplish our mission and vision – creating a church unchurched people love to attend and leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ – even more effectively than we can now.
The move is designed to help us advance the mission of Connexus Church across our current and future campuses.  In short, over the next ten years, it will help us reach more unchurched people than we ever have, not just at the proposed facility, but across current and future campuses.  We’ll share all the details at our Town Hall meetings (below), but this move would help us do a better job at our Orillia campus (it would involve an important infusion of resources in Orillia) as well as help us to advance the mission of Connexus as a whole at the Barrie campus and future campuses.
Consequently, we dream of leading even more of our friends and family into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe that designing a new ‘headquarters’ for Connexus is something that can help us advance our mission further, faster.
There are a lot of details to cover.  And there will be many steps along the way between now and July 31st when we discover whether or not the 20 Mills Road Initiative is a go.
To learn more and talk personally about it, join us for one of our Town Hall Meetings where there will be lots of opportunity for dialogue, prayer and Q and A:

Orillia :: Wednesday, March 28th at 7:00 p.m. at the Best Western Mariposa Inn
Barrie :: Thursday, March 29th at 7:00 p.m.  at the Barrie Country Club

What else can you do in the meantime?

  1. Please pray.  Pray for wisdom and discernment as we navigate the next chapter of our life together.  Pray for Barrie City Council as they consider our application for rezoning.
  2. Attend a scheduled Barrie City Council public meeting Monday, April 23 in Barrie. The City needs to know that you support this application. Your presence at the meeting will help secure our application’s passage.
  3. Live on mission. As we said, the building is not the mission (nor will it ever be). One of the very best things you can do is fully engage our mission every week by connecting in community, serving in our environments, give financially and inviting your friends.

Love being able to do this together!
