This week a group of high school students from Connexus are on our “Love Moves” Compassion Trip to Antigua, Guatemala. “Love Moves” is our environment that inspires passion in our students as they serve our church community, our local community, and our global community. We believe that if you serve like Jesus on the outside, you become more like Him on the inside.
This week the team has already had many opportunities to share and experience the compassion that Jesus shared and understood. They’ve been able to serve soup to a local homeless community, have cared for children in the special needs ward of a local hospital each day, built a chicken coop for a family, and have been sharing hope through a kids club in the local community for children who don’t go to school.
In the weeks of preparation and on the trip students have been processing and applying 1 John 3:16-18:
“We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister[a] in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person? Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.”
Thank you to all of those who supported this trip financially and have been praying for our students. God is up to big things in their lives.
We want you to know that the entire Connexus Community and family and friends are invited to “United” April 3rd 7pm at Timothy Christian School in Barrie. A night with music by our InsideOut band, an update from the Compassion Trip students on what God did on their trip, and a chance to hear/see some of our students who’ve chosen to be baptized. It will be an encouraging night to see real life change and hear about next steps in the faith journey of our students.
