I really enjoyed the morning of my wedding day. It was special hanging out with my closest friends who were about to stand up with me as I publicly declared my love for my soon to be wife, Kathy. I was having a good time and I was really relaxed. So much so, I only decided to jump into the shower at 10:30. Which wouldn’t be a problem except the ceremony was at 11.
Needless to say, I was running late and dangerously close to becoming that proverbial guy, who would be late for his own wedding. So my best man drove through every red light and stop sign to get me to the church. Even that was a blast.
Later I learned that Kathy had arrived before me and my tardiness made for some stressful moments for her. That certainly wasn’t my intention, but for some brief moments, she wondered what was going on. “Where is he? How could he be late for his own wedding? Is there going to be a wedding?” I’m sure there were other thoughts running through her mind but lets not dwell on that.
Though I was late, thankfully I wasn’t too late. The wedding went as planned and it was a great day.
Today’s passage tells a more tragic story. The rich man did run out of time. As a result of not trusting Jesus for this life or the life after, he would spend eternity, separated from God.
For the rich man in the story, it was too late; and that is extremely sad. But it’s not too late for you and me.
- It’s not too late to have a personal relationship with God
- It’s not too late to repair relationships
- It’s not too late to change and grow
Because it’s not too late, Access Groups are a wonderful opportunity for you to take another next step in your spiritual journey. A 6-week Access Group taking a closer look at what it means to grow spiritually is available in Barrie & Orillia
Also, in Orillia we are offering an Access Group focused on Marriage and Personal Finances.
Why? Because it’s not too late…there’s still time.
Respond
Belong – Because you can belong before you believe.
Have you ever been so late for something that you thought you’d miss it completely? How did it turn out?
Believe – Because those who belong often start to believe.
Have you ever thought that it’s too late to change because of your past? Can you believe that it’s not too late and that there is still time?
Become – Because everyone who believes can become someone new.
If you were to focus on one thing, what would you like to see change? Can an Access Group help you?
Dear God, Thank you that you desire to see everyone come to know you personally through Jesus Christ. Help me to see what next step you want me to take on my spiritual journey. And thank you that there’s still time. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
