Day 23 – November 1, 2012 – 40 Day Spiritual Journey

TESTING! EQUALS A CHANGE OF HEART
READ Matthew 6: 21
REFLECT

I was at the lowest point financially that I’ve ever been in my life, caused by some very difficult circumstances along with some bad choices. I had very little to give, or so I thought, until God showed me that the very thing I was scared to give up would turn out to be the greatest gift I have ever received. Not only did I decide to give more, I had a desire to do what I could to help change lives. God did an amazing work in my heart and drew me closer to Him in the process.

For many years I truly did not understand tithing. I didn’t understand that everything including any money I have, comes directly from Him and that all He is asking is for me to trust Him and give some back. Then I read:

“Malachi 3:10 10Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”

Test Him? Could I really do that? Was I willing to do that? Would I starve if I did that? Would my bills be paid? Would I survive?

I decided to be bold, trust His word and test Him.

My heart was changed as I witnessed God bless my life in ways that no amount of money could ever buy. My treasure today is my relationship with God and my heart is full of gratitude and rich in love. As a result I am making wise financial choices and continue to do it God’s way. It will take time to clean up the mess I made but with God’s grace and wisdom, it will happen.

BOTTOM  LINE

For where your treasure is, your heart will be also.

LIVE  If we truly want others to find the comfort, peace and joy we experience in having a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, we must do our part financially to make that possible. Why not ask Him to show you the way to step up boldly? Are you willing to test Him so lives can be forever changed?

PRAY

For God to boldly show you where He wants your treasure to be.
