Day 2 – October 11, 2012 – 40 Day Spiritual Journey

MY LORD IS THE ONE AND ONLY GOD
READ 1 Kings 18: 19-29
REFLECT
Every year I travel to Guatemala where I see evidence of the “Gods of Baal” in the Mayan culture. Thanks to God there are many Christian missionaries there, spreading the true gospel.
In these verses, Elijah is all alone against 450 prophets of Baal, whom the Israelites had chosen to follow.
Elijah challenges these prophets to prove that their Gods are real, and low and behold, they cannot – much like today’s “gods”

BOTTOM LINE

“1 Kings 18: 21
Elijah challenged the people: How long are you going to sit on the fence? If God is the real God, follow him; if it is Baal, follow him. Make up your minds! Nobody said a word; nobody made a move.
Are you still sitting on the fence about who to follow?
LIVE
Think of some of the things that could be the gods of this world. Are any of them gods for you, or your family or friends?
We need to tell people that our God is the only TRUE God and that He is alive and lives in us!
PRAY
I pray that people will see that the “gods” of this world are false, and that they find the one and only true God, whose Son died for us on the cross.
