Day 15 – October 24, 2012 – 40-Day Spiritual Journey

IMMEDIATE RESPONSE
AND TOTAL COMMITMENT
IN THE FACE OF OUR FEARS
READ  Joshua 2: 1-21
REFLECT

Joshua secretly sent out two spies who promised to go wherever he sent them. They were strong and courageous. God did not wait for Rahab to be perfect in order to use her. He knew her faith would make her bold – and courageous – in front of men her whole city feared. Rahab recognized that God was like no other (“For the Lord your God is the supreme God of the heavens above and the earth below.”) She found herself faced by those who had God’s favour. She knew it was not an accident that they were at her door. She followed what she KNEW to be true, in the midst of her own sin, regardless of her people’s fears. She recognized that God provided her with a way to safety and trusted the word of God’s men to save, not only her, but her whole extended family.

BOTTOM LINE

Are you willing to risk everything for God’s purpose? Do you trust him to keep his promises?

LIVE
For most of us, taking a risk for God does not involve risking your life and that of your family. More often than not, the risk is to our “reputation” – what people think of us at work or in our community. There are times, with certainty, when I knew I was to speak into someone’s situation. God is interested in his people, his special possession, and often speaks to us through others. It has given me a feeling of completion, when I have followed through and spoken. Some of my most satisfying moments have been those times of spiritual interaction when God is using me to speak to others.

PRAY

Thank you, Lord, that you speak into our lives. Help me to seize the opportunities you have placed before me, regardless of how risky they seem. Use me to show others your goodness, and to tell them that you see and care for them.
