Christmas at Connexus!

Now, for the answer to the question that so many of you have been asking….what’s happening Christmas Eve at Connexus?

Answer:  We’re hosting Christmas at the Waterfront.  Connexus has rented Heritage Park in downtown Barrie and is hosting a 6:30 p.m. everyone’s-invited outdoor Christmas Eve service on December 24th.  This is an all-campus event, and it goes a bit beyond that.  We’re not only inviting you and your friends…we want the community to come.  We’ll be advertising next week throughout Simcoe County.  It should be an incredible amount of fun and a powerful moment as we all gather together.

We think the novelty of an outdoor Christmas eve service will draw people in, plus we’ll bring the best of our style to the waterfront that night.   Our music team will lead us in tricked-out Christmas carols, plus we have some special music.  I’ll bring a short message, and there will be hot chocolate for everyone. The whole service will be under an hour, and you are free to bring your own lawn chairs or build your own snow fort. Bring a non-perishable food item for the local food banks if you are so inclined, and we’ll take an offering toward the work of Connexus for those who are inclined to contribute.

It should be one incredible, memorable Christmas Eve service for our first year together.  If it rains, watch the blog, but otherwise, we’re planning to do it regardless of the temperature or whether there’s snow in the forecast.  In fact, we kind of hope for light snow!

It will be the last service of 2007 as we are not holding services on Sunday, December 30th.  Many people are traveling, and we wanted to give our hard working volunteers a rest.  Portable church is very volunteer intensive, and we want to take one Sunday a year to give our volunteers a rest and encourage people to worship in small groups or with another church that Sunday.

So our holiday schedule looks like this:

    Sunday, December 23rd       8:30 and 10:00 a.m. Both campuses/regular services
Sunday, December 24th       6:30 p.m.  Christmas on the Waterfront — both campuses in Barrie
Sunday December 30th        no service (a week off to give our hard-working volunteers a rest)
    Sunday, January 6th            8:30 and 10:00 a.m.  Both campuses/regular services

So….now you know.  Make sure you invite your friends, and don’t miss Christmas on the Waterfront.

What an awesome witness for Christmas! I like the idea of a non-perisable food item to beable to give to the community at a time when it is so needed. It is great being a part of this ministry.

Good news about the Christmas Eve service. I am also very pleased that we will have an opportunity to bring food items for the Barrie Food Bank. Thanks for all the work everyone does and God bless. Would you give some of the food contributions to The Light House in Orillia?
