So, there's a lot happening in the next seven days. Here's just a quick run down of things to expect by around this time next week:
Location We'll be announcing our location! The Presbytery of Barrie meets Tuesday night at Trinity and should indicate whether or not it will recommend acceptance of Connexus' offer to purchase the current Trinity facility. Watch this blog late Tuesday night for an update. Either way, we're good to go and ready to launch either in Oro or in Barrie and Orillia in December.
Logo This week we'll select the final Connexus logo and slogan.
And we'll make the process a bit interactive. The current logo, font and image is something we put together to get us started. I must confess, we've grown fond of it, especially the orange chair, but we never intended it to be permanent. (Just so you know, we're going to try to buy an orange chair just like it off e-bay or something. if you've got one in your basement, let us know. We want it for opening day!) Our regular bloggers will get a sneak peek at our two final logo candidates tomorrow and Wednesday and will have an opportunity to feedback on what you think. We need to get the new logo finalized by the end of day Wednesday so we can have it ready in final form for our December launch.
Connecting Personally We'll be preparing for our two important information meetings on Saturday, October 20th at 10:00 a.m. in Barrie and on Saturday, October 27th at
10:00 a.m. in Orillia. That's where we can get up close and personal to chat about Connexus face to face. Both meetings happen in the respective Galaxy
Cinemas in each city (each is a repeat of the other — the two locations and dates help us accommodate numbers and people's schedules). Many of you have received personal invites to these meetings, but if you haven't, consider yourself invited (our mailing list is not flawless). These meetings are your chance to hear the
vision in detail, to sign up to help and to meet other like-minded
Connexus supporters who want to be part of a community that is passionate about fueling relevant
environments that lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus. Please mark these dates today.
Donations We should open a bank account to receive donations. So many of you are anxious to give, and we appreciate it! In fact, we've already received close to $40,000 we can't cash yet. But that should change this week. Thanks! It's going to take all of us to launch Connexus.
Incorporation Our articles of incorporation should be finalized with Industry Canada, and our application for charitable status will then follow.
Midweek Space. If we go mobile, then we'll also be finalizing space for student ministry, KidStuf and even staff offices and meeting space.
As we get closer and closer to launch, we are very grateful for your prayers and encouragement and questions. I'm grateful for how many of you have already expressed your excitement about being part of this exciting opening chapter God is writing in the life of Connexus and our community.
